Three-year Partnerhip a "Natural Fit" for the Great Lakes The Alliance’s partnership with Aveda during its Earth Month campaign raised $208,300 for the Alliance this year. It’s the third consecutive year the environmentally sustainable salon chain has counted the Alliance among its partners in the annual spring campaign, which has raised $14.2 million for more than 70 Earth Month partner organizations worldwide since 1999. "Beauty and personal care product companies are a natural fit to adopt sustainability practices, as what goes into these products eventually ends up directly on our bodies and in the environment," said Alliance Sustainable Business Director Jonah Smith. "It only makes sense that we as consumers want these products to be as natural as possible so as to not adversely affect our health or that of the environment," he said. "Aveda is a leader in making great products that truly incorporate those values." Smith praised Aveda for making sustainable practices such as water conservation, recycling and environmental responsibility an integral part of doing business. Aveda's April campaign -- themed "Access to Clean Water" for each of the last three years -- raised nearly $203,000 for the Alliance last year, and nearly $190,000 in 2007. Looking ahead, Smith said: "The Alliance is thrilled to continue to partner with them in our clean water mission for our fourth straight year in 2010." Posted 11-6-09
