Great Lakes in My World

Great Lakes in My World offers 80 indoor and outdoor activities for kindergarten through eighth-grade students. The curriculum is divided into six units: Lakes, Sand Dunes, Wetlands, Human Communities, History and Geology. Each unit includes 11 to 17 activities, divided by grade level, and student pages accompany the activities. The curriculum meets state learning standards and benchmarks in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and Wisconsin.

The curriculum was developed in accordance with our philosophy that it:

  • instill a sense of place
  • be inquiry-based
  • provide a positive focus
  • promote problem-solving
  • offer service learning
  • foster learning for understanding
